DVF Debuts Scent, Captivates Crowd at NorthPark Center

Dallas should count itself lucky to have made the short list of U.S. cities on Diane von Furstenberg’s current tour to promote her new fragrance, Diane. The iconic designer, known for her signature wrap dresses and vibrant prints, appeared at Sephora NorthPark Center on the afternoon of November 1st. Greeted by a packed house of fans and media, she was beautiful, confident, and engaging.

Before signing bottles of her frangipani and violet-laced scent, DVF chatted with DFW Style Daily about Big D and the power of perfume.

“Dallas has the most beautiful women in the country,” von Furstenberg enthused when queried for thoughts on our city’s style. She also remarked on Dallas’ architecture, a feature she says she admires on each of her visits, which date back some 30 years.

Moving on to a discussion of Diane, the designer’s eyes swept across the crowd with a mischievous expression as she declared, “Perfume is a weapon.” Since ancient times, she explained, women have employed the power of scent to aid in the art of seduction.

No doubt extra bottles were added to baskets throughout the store upon that remark.

Shortly thereafter, DVF moved on to visit with waiting fans. Many waived flags emblazoned with her motto, “Be the woman you want to be!” Chatting as she delicately tied printed, perfumed ribbons around wrists, the designer seemed to make a personal connection with each guest.

Here’s to DVF and her latest visit to Dallas.  We hope she returns soon. In the meantime, Diane is available online and at area Sephora stores. Visit Diane von Furstenberg’s boutique in Highland Park Village to shop the designer’s latest clothing, shoes, and accessories.
