Each week, DFW Style Daily reveals the fashion fixations of our city’s top trendsetters. Today, Brandie Gilliam, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Organic Beauty Talk, shares her latest beautifully 'green' addictions.
What keeps Dallas-based business owner Brandie Gilliam occupied when she’s not busy reviewing the best organic and natural products at
Organic Beauty Talk? Shopping, fashion, and all things beautiful –
that’s what. We’d expect no less from this stylish blogger, who adheres to the philosophy that “you don’t have to sacrifice great design” when going green.
1. Bangles by Mikuti
Currently in love with the
“Musa” bangle bracelet by Mikuti ($95), our expert says she pairs hers with jeans or a party frock. Handmade from recycled aluminum and glass Czech seed beads, these wearable works of art are inspired by traditional Maasai beading.
2. Silk Tops by Threads 4 Thought
“I absolutely adore the
‘Entity’ silk crepe top, “ Gilliam gushes. “It adds a bit of sophistication to a casual outfit.” The entire garment is eco-friendly, combining silk crepe with organic cotton and recycled polyester. It’s also quite affordable, at a mere $34.
3. Accessories by Apple & Bee
Petite carryalls by Apple & Bee ($21.95) captivate this nature girl. She explains, “I love the apple coin purse, made from hemp and silky bamboo. It’s cute enough to show off outside of your handbag.”
4. Red Skinny Jeans by Reuse
Calling brightly-colored jeans “the ultimate statement piece,” Gilliam can’t get enough of
skinnys by Reuse ($95) in rich red. She wears them with blazers and boots for the cooler temps that have finally arrived in Texas.
5. Footwear by Coclico
“I'm simply in love with all things Coclico,” Gilliam confesses. The label’s
Lawrence Bootie ($439) is her new fall staple, and she reports wearing her pair 24-7.
