Each week, DFW Style Daily reveals the fashion fixations of our city’s top trendsetters. Today, Capera Ryan, a Vice President of Christie’s Auction House and leader of the legendary company’s Dallas location, shares her fabulous fall list.
Hint: It includes an item from Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry box.
Surrounded by priceless art and jewels on a daily basis, Capera Ryan of Christie's Dallas is known for her impeccable personal style. Fresh off of hosting the opening of
Stella McCartney’s boutique at Highland Park Village, she'll tell us why a silver screen legend, the Big Apple, and an exotic Asian hotspot are all on her mind this season.
1. The Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Auction
Jewels, art, and clothing from
American icon Elizabeth Taylor’s collections will hit the block at Christie's come December. From her front row seat, Capera hopes to snag Taylor's earclips by Joel Arthur Rosenthal. Expected to bring between $100,000 and $150,000 at the auction, this potential acquisition would surely be the envy of the Dallas social set.
2. Bound for Burma
Travel-loving Capera hopes to make time for a trip to the country of Burma in Southeast Asia in the near future. Of her globetrotting obsession, she says, “I am always planning my next trip. I love to meet new people and learn about their art, spirituality, and culture.”
3. New York, New York
Still glamorous, but a
tad closer to home, Capera is set to co-chair the American Federation of the Arts annual gala in Manhattan later this month. “We are so excited to be honoring the artist Marina Abramovic, and Earl A. Powell, III, director of the National Gallery of Art,” she explains. The chic event will take place at the historic Metropolitan Club (pictured here).
4. Lili Marlene
Capera adores her wire-haired dachshund, named for Marlene Dietrich. “Not only is she beautiful, but she keeps me doing two of my favorite things - smiling and laughing,” gushes the proud pooch parent.
5. Stella McCartney’s Polka Dot “Julietta” Dress
Finally, Capera is officially smitten with the gorgeous dress she wore at the opening of Stella’s first Dallas boutique. “I think this dress is definitely the ‘it’ dress of the season,” she declares. Snag one for yourself at
Stella McCartney in Highland Park Village for $2,565.
