Under the heading of “Hot Retail Rumor”, the current edition of F!Dluxe reports that a new outlet mall set to open next year in Grand Prairie may (or may not) feature a Bloomingdale’s store. DFW Style Daily investigates.
DFW Style Daily’s attempts to confirm the rumor netted only this cryptic response from the upscale department store chain’s PR department: “We never discuss where we may or may not be looking for store locations. When we have announcement to make, we make it then [sic].”
A little more digging, however, revealed that Bloomie’s is in the midst of an outlet-opening frenzy right now. According to Racked (via WWD), little brown bags full of discounted goods will soon be spotted in and around Wrentham, Massachusetts; Schaumburg, Illinois; and Estero, Florida. Opening this fall, these new outlets will join four others already operating on the east coast.
All this lends credibility to F!Dluxe’s rumor item, but we’re still far from excited.
The thing is, these off-price Bloomingdale’s locations don’t necessarily carry the same designer clothing, accessories, and shoes as the real thing. Also according to Racked, the “vast majority” of the merchandise at these stores was made specifically for the outlet market.
…And here we were already daydreaming of stumbling upon this quilted Marc Jacobs tote ($1,350) in a 75% off bin. Bummer.
